Value Statements

Wandering aimlessly in life can be fun. You might even end up in some really cool places with some memorable stories to share.

On the contrary, you can also feel like you’ve wasted your time. Since the beginning of our biological time, the end of our time is unknown. That uncertainty begets the reason why people despise wasting time. Generally people value their time, some more than others…

In fact, some of the greatest inventions were invented to save time. The refrigerator saves time from a daily food run, keeping perishable food fresher for longer. Washers and dryers shrunk a full days of grueling work into what is now under two hours. Cars, trains and airplanes sped up transportation and delivery in impeccably. All to save our precious time.

To get the most out of our time in business and in our personal lives, it is best to have goals and dreams to aim to achieve. Setting goals keeps you focused, gives you direction, and improves your productivity. Your goals, daily – weekly – monthly – yearly, should be geared towards your purpose. In business, your purpose is called your mission statement. This should be written as straight forward and clear cut as you can make it to avoid any confusion. It is beneficial to your decision making, to have a mission statement, because if it does not coincide with it, then there’s no point in doing it.

Once you’ve defined your purpose of your business (or your life) then you want to write your dreams down, or your vision statement. Your vision statement should seem almost impossible to achieve so that you can always remain in business (or alive). It does not mean you can’t get really really close to achieving your dreams, it just means you should write it as if it’s unattainable.

You may have started a business and it’s doing well enough to not bother with writing such statements. Good for you, but it doesn’t mean that it’s unnecessary. It simply means you have an opportunity to strengthen your business. Having these blueprints are beneficial because it becomes your compass. A compass is your guide to prevent you from losing direction. If you get lost, it simply means you wasted time getting where you desire.

Waste no more of your time or anyone else’s for that matter. If you are reading this, you still have time. So use it wisely, because it’s never too late to identify your business’s purpose and goal(s). Create your compass and fulfill your wildest dreams.
